Frequently Asked Questions

What is mindset coaching?
A person’s mindset is their attitude or outlook, and it is extremely powerful. Your mindset can determine your successes in life, or your missed opportunities. A mindset coach uses a variety of tools and practices to help a person maximize, adjust, or alter their mindset. These tools include but are not limited to meditation, mindfulness, story-telling, guided visualization, hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), tapping, journaling.
What can mindset coaching help with? Can it help me with [insert problem/issue here]?
Managing stress, habits (smoking, overeating), insomnia, peak performance, increasing relaxation, memory, fears/phobias, anxiety, pain management, immune system functioning, clearing past traumas, mood management (keeping your emotions from controlling you), motivation, creativity. The list of possibilities is extensive. When you schedule your free 15-minute strategy call, you and I will talk about the change you desire and I’ll better be able to know if coaching is the right way to go.
Will I be able to remember the session?
It depends on the structure of the session, as different issues call for different needs. With the more overt hypnosis sessions, people generally remember about as much as they would from a normal conversation, more or less. Think of it like remembering a dream. Occasionally when addressing traumatic issues, some information (especially memories) or details about a process may be withheld afterwards, generally as protection from retraumatization or to give the work a chance to get going without being picked apart by the critical mind.
How long will it take?
Some individuals may experience change happening in as soon as one session, for others it may take a bit longer. Each individual is different and comes with a different set of needs and preferred way of doing things. Based on our discussions and sessions, I will choose the approach and techniques I feel will help you accomplish your goals in the most effective and ecological way possible. In most cases, I schedule multiple sessions for a single presenting issue. This model allows for a robust and powerful system with continued reinforcement, self-hypnosis training, and proper customization for your unique set of needs.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis occurs when your attention is highly focused in such a way as to allow you to access the parts of your mind you normally may have difficulty reaching consistently. This bypassing of the critical "gatekeeper" of your mind increases your suggestibility, meaning you can reprogram the body and mind for success.
What does hypnosis feel like?
There is no one hypnotized feeling. Many people experience hypnosis differently, often the same person having different experiences based on various factors. Some people describe it as relaxing, others as intense focus. Some people are very aware of every word being said, some drift in and out of awareness, others enjoy the experience so much they completely zone out and have no recollection afterwards aside from feeling really good.
Can I be hypnotized?
Most likely you can! Have you ever been "in the flow" where you get so caught up in whatever you're doing that time just slips by and you maybe don't notice someone talking to you? Or totally absorbed by a good book or movie to the point that you forget your surroundings? We go in and out of these periods of highly-focused attention naturally every day, which means you can learn to do it intentionally, with a therapeutic goal in mind.
